Nine - Official Trailer [HD]

As mentioned, I love Marion. I also dote on Kate Hudson, even when she's in shitty movies like Raising Helen and How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days. I like Nicole Kidman, pretty much mostly. I didn't used to like Penelope Cruz, because I thought she was a home wrecker (I guess she and Nicole are friends now? Or at least frenemies?) and she kind of grates on my nerves, but I am liking her more and more. And the old ladies are awesome. What movie isn't Judie Dench in? It's like always a toss up between her and Maggie Smith. I guess ol' Judes won this one.

Fergie... just looks like a hot tranny mess. As usual.

But I am so so excited for this. Super so so excited.

I'm not sure if there is a way that this can not win an Oscar. Guessing nominations for: Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Art Direction, Cinematography, Costume Design, Directing, Film Editing, Music (score), Music (song), Sound Editing.

Then again, it might disappoint.

Also, read this! Eek, two European thesps conversing is soups cute.

Speaking Of...

I had totally forgotten that the Mormon Moron was an extra in some D movie a couple of years ago. He is also on IMDB. Oh my life. Guess who else is in the movie? Cam Gagandet.

Future Movie Star or Straight to DVR?

Speaking of Stoned-Anakin, he is in 2 movies, not 1. Both sequels to some American Pie-type teen movies of the 90's/early 00's.

You can IMDB him, if you know his name. It's kind of strange. That's the first person I legit know who is almost kinda sorta famous.

Huh.

I can almost bet that Mormon Moron will LOVE the films and be BFF with him.

Twilight Business

I'm still not ready to do my 'review', I'm thinking I might wait til I've seen it a second time. Which I will do, and soon. But in the meantime, I thought I would lend you my BCA expertise and talk numbers.

This weekend (opening weekend in the US :) ) Twilight grossed 70.6 million.

Since the average movie ticket is just under $7, that means that over 1 million people saw it. Apparently 75% of the audience was female (surprise?) and 45% were over 25 (actual surprise). That was a little Variety statistics for you.

More stats? It beat the shizz out of Bolt ($27 mil)(s0 suck it Miley...) and also SITC, which I guess is how the movie world defines a female film. It's the biggest opening for a female director, so well done Crazy Cat. Um... and it made just over $20k per theatre, but I don't know if that's per screen or like cineplexes included. It's playing in 3,419 runs, but balls if I know what that means. It's either screens or places, idk.

Anyway, it cost $37 mil to produce, and probably around $30 mil for P&A. That's Prints and Advertising to you, prints being the actual film reels that get sent around to the movie theatres. And the ads being those things that make you giddy with excitement when you hear 'You're impossibly fast..." during the ad break of GG and Grey's.

The studio gets like 50c for every $1 at Box Office, so Summit is now at $35 million. In three days. And one country. It hasn't even opened internationally yet. And you know the FFGs such as myself are planning on seeing it at least twice more in theaters before buying the DVD, probably several times over because their/our copies will be broken from rewinding and playing a few key moments over and over.

So yea, Mormon Moron, Twilight really tanked.

Um, also, I have a Twilight poster to give away, if anyone wants it. I'm feeling generous. It's not huge or anything, but it's hawt. :)

Duke's Cafe

Where: 8909 W Sunset Blvd, Right next to the Whiskey A Go-Go

What I had: Half sandwich (corned beef) half salad ($7 something with tax...)

Rave review: "Celebrity endorsements cover the walls, and tourists, musicians and actor/model regulars rub elbows at communal tables or the counter. The diner-staple menu features 60-odd sandwiches and burgers, plus meat loaf, salads and pork chops with applesauce. But it's breakfast that really sizzles: Omelettes come with multiculti fillings like kosher salami and chutney. Blintzes and corned beef hash are hefty and homemade, and health-conscious diners can opt for egg-white scrambles and fresh fruit." - City Search

Their rating: 9.1

My rating: 5

Why:

Okay, first of all, there were like 5 people in there and none of them looked like hung over movie stars to me. It was pretty dingy. And here's a question: why would you want to rub elbows with tourists, as advertised above?

Anyway, the corned beef itself was pretty good. Now let's discuss the bread. It is literally a slice of white bread. You know, like sliced bread, like Gardenia or Sunshine? Really not classy. And being only half a sandwich, it is 2 halves of a slice. This makes sandwich look pretty lame. There is also nothing in said sandwich other than the beef. No lettuce, no avocado, no tomato...

Then there's the side salad. It is a base of iceberg lettuce, my pet peeve, with some carrot slices, green pepper slices, and some gross red cabbage slices. And they threw a piece of cantaloupe in there for good measure, I guess, which I mistook for a cucumber.

PLUS, they use Styrofoam boxes, so they don't even get bonus points for being environmentally friendly or anything.

On the bright side, I love my internship. They give me a $10 stipend for lunch. Highest paid Hollywood job I've ever had, woot woot! Moving up in the world.

Trying to Keep Up

I've read about the Bright Young Hollywood feature in the August issue of Vanity Fair twice today. At first I was like, how the eff do people know what's coming out in August? It's barely July! But then I thought I'd blog about it too and throw my 2 cents in.

Thoughts on the cover:

1) Emma Roberts looks like the coolest one there even though she should be #4 out of 4. Her dress is a little 'meh' and looks a little like it's going to fall off, but her hair looks great in this shade, way better than her usual mousy best friend look. And she has plenty of attitude going on.

1a) This is surprising to me because I thought Kristen Stewart would for sureee look the most rocking, a) because she's Bella, and b) because usually she looks very edgy. She looks a little sheepish and out of her league, which is possibly because she is not a very white-dress type of person usually. Especially not a white dress with yellow flowers. She probably could have pulled off the Emma Roberts dress better. They also didn't play up her eyes much, make-up wise. Ha, look at me pretending to know what I'm talking about.

1b) On a more analytical inspection, I think Emma Roberts (who will never be anything other than her full name. Except, of course, "Is this just a crush or am I a stalker?" because she sang that in Unfabulous and it was really fabulous) has the best face look because she is the only one not looking at the camera head-on and is thus the only one with any jaw definition.

2) Amanda Seyfried looks the nicest in her dress , and also looks really pretty.

2a) This is strange to me because I always think of her as kind of moon-faced and also can never picture her serious ('stolen boy' and 'I have ESPN' always come to mind when I try), but here she is looking very awesome and otherworldly... vampirey. She should try out for some Twilight screen time.

2b) I also would have expected Blake Lively to look the best because she is the fashion blogger's golden child, n'est-ce pas? But she too looks a little sheepish and while I do love how she looks in the dress her facial expression seems to look kind of uncomfortable. And ha-ha, how much does Emz (ok ok I have a nickname for her) look like she thinks S (GG ref, anyone?) is a complete freak??

3) Random side note, does anyone else thing that Kristen Stewart really looks like Elizabeth Reaser in this pic? Um, that would be Ava from Grey's and Esme from Twilight, to you.

Thoughts on the feature:

1) Immediate thought: How much must a publicist pay/who must they sleep with/what strings must they pull to get their clients in here? This is a big effing deal, and some of the peeps in it are really a little bit random. I mean, yea, they all have movies coming out (which is obvi where half the VF funds came from...) but so do tons of other kids. And I expect the GG people to be in it because their show is the hot fav for grown-ups acting young and kids acting old, and also because they do an awesome job at getting featured in every effing blog and periodical. But McLovin? And the fat guy? And the chick who loves the crap with gold flakes in it? (All from Superbad) I'm pretty sure they weren't doing any acting, just as Michael Cera (not featured? Sad!) always plays the same person, though we adore him.

2) Next thought: Er, how did they miss out all my fav men? (Robert Pattinson, anyone? Jeez this post is getting a little obsessive...) Was it because they aren't American? No right, coz Chuck Bass is English.

3) Wow Josh from Drake and Josh is getting kind of hot.

4) Best friend from Juno totally deserves her spot. I'll even look up her name for this. Olivia Thirlby. Love her.

5) Jonas Brothers. Ha-ha, not a big shock. Er, where's Miley? I kind of really love her new song, 7 Things, though it's pretty embarrassing to admit.
