BumpIts - As Seen on TV Network

For my darlings abroad / who don't watch TV, here is a bump it. Yes, it is the most hilarious invention since the Snuggie (now available for dogs). I know a girl who has one, and it actually looked ok.

I DIY'd a bumpit the other night out of one third of a paper towel roll. On the third attempt, it looked pretty great. But definitely could not go out knowing there was a recycled cardboard tube giving my hair its body. Because it would probably fall out.

Bangs

So in the end, I did get bangs. Half out of love for bangs, and half out of a desire not to maintain the brows.

This is me playing with photobooth at work. I chose the thermal effect because then you can't see how deathly grey my skin is in natural light. Instead, you can see how oily my nose is.

Anyway, note that I am wearing a headband. Most days I have to wear a headband, or hair pins, or have it up, or back comb it, or have it curled... So I can look like this:

(And OMG, isn't Lily Cole super adorable / delicious here?)

And not like this:

Or:

Which I do, if I just brush my hair and do nothing else. Am seriously contemplating investing in a Bump It, so as not to have to spend so much time / stolen hair products on back combing. Not sure if I could suffer through the humiliation.

Thoughts?

Unemployment is the new summer

I am so so so bored. I have expired all the Hollywood blogs, the last romance novel I read has made me think maybe I've lost my enjoyment in them, TV sucks and NB is out drinking with his friend but even if he wasn't, I'd be bored. Bored and annoyed.

For a while, I was trying to find some ac/sc gossip blogs, and then I remembered that everyone I know graduated long ago and as such I really couldn't care less about the people featured on the blogs I can't find anyway.

So if anyone has anything for me to read, please, let me know.

Here is a little gem for you guys: Real Blair's Blog. I don't know if any of you follow Leighton Meester on Twitter, but the girl is effing nuts. She says things like 'is a wild naughty child'. Makes for good reading.

Enjoy and return the favour.

xoxo

Technical Difficulties

Sorry for the long hiatus, for those who care. I had trojans. It was kind of fun because when I googled stuff whatever I clicked on would turn out to be an ad page, even wiki. But then I couldn't use email or facebook, and that was lame. So NB re-whatsitsed everything on my computer for me, and then I didn't have office, or flash, or PDF reader... whatever, it's all good now.

Onwards!

Guess What Came In The Mail?

Here's some hints:

4 words.

1st word: ______ boy is an emo band.

2nd word: ______ blind mice, see how they run.

3rd word: _____ is a tv show where you get voted out of the tribe.

4th word: Special _____ DVD box set of LOTR had a toy gollum.

So hey, you for whom 2 of these were procured... you owe me $$ :)

Someone Really Wants My Money

I got 2 money scams (at least... I hope they're scams...) in my Hotmail today, and I thought I'd share, because they brought me great amusement. Particularly number 2.

One - Abby Bank (from: no-reply@abbey.co.uk)

The Abbey Bank Group

Okay, the only account I have with Abbey National is from when I was like 3 years old way back before the internet was around and certainly before I was old enough to fill in an email ad with my application.

Whatever, that was pretty run of the mill. Here's the really good one:

Two - From an old ACJC classmate.

the hotel bills i would return it back to you as soon as
i get home.
I am so confused right now because i am in serious trouble
overhere .You can have the money sent to me through my

Hope to hear from you.
Thanks and God bless

This would be really tragic if it were true, and props to them, because MichIm would totz say 'hello dear' and also because it came from her real email add.

But, no dice.

First off, I would like to think anyone in AC arts would know that 'I need your urgently help' makes absolutely no sense. Second, we weren't that close anyway, certainly not close enough that she would email me for a thousand dollars. I'm pretty sure she'd call her parents. Either way, I don't have $1000, so fail fail fail.

Well, I hope you enjoyed that. Here's celebrating my 201th post. :)

A little note...

Before I transferred it to my computer to the internet, the music didn't jump all weirdly, and it was way less pixelated. Eff you, technologies!

The Death that was Last Campus Movie Fest

Here's my first movie.

Lots of people who worked on it never got to see it, so here you go guys. And you wonder why they asked us if we were high when we arrived for the screening...

That was this time last year. This year I hope to improve a little.

I tried to post this twice, but it has yet to show, so here's the #1 reason why boys should watch Wedding Daze.

Sorry for the interruption

My laptop was un-chargeable, because my brother and I blew up the electrics. At first I thought it was the adapter, but after trying 2 different ones, in both sockets, I concluded that it must be my charger, esp since the little light didn't go green.

So today, my mummy and I went to buy a new charger (for a bargain price of S$52, but not receipt, so this may be a little dodgy) and I brought it home and plugged it in. No light. Oh snap.

Then, a lightbulb! (In my head, not my charger.)

Mayhaps, when Dom and I blew up the electrics, the spark effed up the socket, not the things that go in them. Ohhh.

So I tried it outside, and it works fine. And now I am happy. (And now there are also little post-its taped over the sockets saying DO NOT USE... my mother went on a labeling spree...)

Back to your regular programming.

Taking over the world

I swear to God, every time I do a google search on something pop-culture related and get a blog result, the writer is always Always ALWAYS from Singapore.

How is that happening?! My computer is American, so it's not like its singling (ha- pun!) out the singlish or anything. Are Singaporeans just more inclined to blog? Or do we all think the same, so the Singaporean posts emerge for the Singaporean searches? It's not like I'm searching on anything local... Or maybe, we are just nerdy enough to figure out how to get our blogs noticed by google. And the 'we' here excludes me, because eff if I know how to do that.

If you know me at all, you know I'm not joking...

Well, it's finals week, and you know what that means: rekindling my romance with Popcap games. On Sunday, mere days away from a final for which I knew (and still know) nothing about, I played Big Money for 6 hours. I mean, there were breaks to eat and stuff, but there was definately no micro-econ happening.

So I essentially gave up on econ and was playing Big Money at Popovitch (our classy business school cafe) while I was meant to be studying. But it totally paid off, because I made it to entrepreneur (my highest ever!), and while I admittedly guessed 80% of the answers on my final, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have known much more had I spent my weekend studying. I also left the exam first.

A quote from a random frat boy that was walking around outside afterwards:

"I dunno man, it looked like there hadn't been some Es in a while, so I put E."

Which pretty much sums up my collegiate testing life.

Electric Envy

As of late, my wish list has been occupied by an unusual amount of technology. Eg:

1) Macbook
2) Final Cut
3) Photo shop
4) One of those mouse-pen things... a pallet?
5) A polaroid camera

I think it's because I con myself into believing that my lack of creative output due to laziness isn't really laziness so much as not being efficiently equipped (equipt?) -- If I had final cut, I'd make sooo many movies. (Because, seeing as I now have a video camera and outside of having some wonderful shots of me scaring my poor roommate Shawks, no movies have come into being.)

Also, my mother is completely to blame for no 1, well my mother and also the demons (ie viruses. Viri?) that invaded my computer last semester. Because when I was last at home she was all "oh why don't we give Dom your computer and then get you a new one?" and "Or maybe we could just scrap the lot and all get new ones?" But that plan never came to fruition. Oh and even though I am a traditional Mac Hater I have been seduced by it's sleekness and grudgingly give in to popular appeal. I'm a late adopter.

More Math

This article says that facebook has almost 5000 pictures. I'm pretty sure they're missing a 0, or several, because I have 400 tagged of me not taken by me, and I probably have like 600 in my albums, and there is no way that there are only 10 people like me posting pictures. I don't even post that many.

Rona Gets The Last Laugh

So, you know how I used to laugh at Rona all the time for meeting men on MySpace and Hot or Not (or worse, seekingarrangements.com) ?

It would appear that the whole "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" philosophy on life is my current one, because I've gone and joined something called woome.com . It's like speed dating on webcam...

... stop laughing.

Basically, you log on and they have sessions, and it can be anywhere from 2 on 2 to 4 on 4 (so basically, the 'anywhere' inbetween is only 3 on 3) and then you have one minute ++ 'sessions' with them, where you're meant to talk about whatever the session topic was, but really you spend most of the time going 'hello hello? Can you see me? I can see you..." and waiting for the lag to catch up. Then at the end you say if you were 'wooed' or not and if your person was wooed by you too you get their email add.

But, it's actually been kinda fun, met some cool people. I know, shock shock horror horror, who does that, there shouldn't be normal people on there. But I met a guy from UPenn who knows Caleb Yap (from AC), that's weird huh?

Anyhoo, Rona and I are totz competing to see who gets 'wooed' more. She's winning but I don't think it counts coz she has bad taste and presses woo for anyone. Slut.

So y'all should sign up and woome... Then I can win. Thanks I love you.

Go Trojans!!!

My computer has trojans. The irony is not lost on me. (For those of you that don't know, we are the USC Trojans over here...)

As such, I am left rather internet-less and moping around the house with nothing to do but eat and watch tv.

I am typing this standing up at a computer terminal in the School Of Business. It's a little like being at an airport, but without a chair.

But here's what I wanted to update with yesterday:

I was looking particularly ravishing yesterday morning (read: actually really ugly and definately just-rolled-out-of-bed). So who should I run into but the Trifecta of Good Looks?

First, I bump into Stephen's Golden Boy. And of course he engages me in a longer-than-usual conversation. Then, it turns out that he is hanging with My Handsome Handsome Man of last semester, who joins in the conversation. Of course. Meanwhile I am self-consciously wishing I had bothered to wear more than a dykey black t shirt. So, we have our bitter-sweet parting (Sweet because then they can stop looking at my frumps, bitter because I love both of them...) Then, naturally, after pretty much ignoring each other for 2 years (that's not ENTIRELY true, but it might as well be), guess who finally says 'Hi' to me? None other than Hayden Christianson Lookalike, crush of my freshman year.

And you know, up until recently, 2 of the 3 were deeply in love, but it seems their girlfriends have chucked them. I don't know how they could do that. In the words of Manny from Degrassi: If it were me, I'd love you for months...

Really, the only way it could have been worse/better is if I had seen Fireworks-and-Competitions and the Fox.
